- Our Jack C. Massey College of Business is an innovator in bringing business skills to bear on the problems of Nashville and the world.
- Belmont founded the first undergraduate Social Entrepreneurship Program in the nation. Along with our nationally ranked Entrepreneurship Program, they
takes the lead in connecting students with the best faith-based organizations in Nashville that are engaging in community development work. - Students have begun or helped expand a host of faith-based non-profit organizations such as Preston Taylor Ministries, The Cookery, Thistle Farms, Barefoot Republic, Word Wagon, Corner to Corner, and Poverty Arts.
- The Enactus Team is comprised of eighty students who identify business opportunities that employ the homeless, help women coming out of human trafficking, and improve our stewardship of God’s creation. Enactus students have won two national and one World Championship for their partnership with Isaiah 58 Ministries, creating the world’s first mattress recycling program, SpringBack Recycling.
- Faculty and students travel each year, and often present at, the Christian Community Development Association National Conference, a multi-racial coalition of thousands of young people dedicated to improving urban America.
- Business Ethics includes biblical perspectives that undergird Belmont’s commitment to both “compassion” and “courage” as they relate to business as a calling to serve the wider community, not just maximize profit.
- The college brings in nationally known speakers whose faith in Christ leads them to advance the common good. Recent guests include the whistleblower from the Enron scandal, the Krispy Kreme CEO who saved it from bankruptcy, and the CEO of Dollar General.
- Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business
- Students produce all aspects of the Christian Music Showcase, held in the Curb Event Center and featuring the best of Belmont‘s up and coming Christian bands and songwriters.
- Students organize all-campus worship services in the Curb Event Center.
- Each semester, the College brings to campus stars such as Ricky Skaggs, Amy Grant, For King & Country, CeCe Winans, Dave Barnes and others whose faith inspires their work in the music industry.
- Motion Pictures Program students benefit from engaging with Christians in the industry such as DeVon Franklin (Sony Pictures), Rick Rekedal (DreamWorks), and Larry the Cucumber (Mike Nawrocki—Big Idea Productions).
- Students serve at Rocketown, a Nashville ministry to 800 at-risk youth that has three live music venues, an indoor skate park, and café.
- The Songwriting Program, the hardest major to be admitted to at Belmont, features Dove award-winning faculty who are equally successful in the mainstream market.
- Students have the opportunity to go on Study Abroad experiences to Africa led by CEMB faculty that allow for collaboration with African songwriters, performers, churches
and ministries. - Opportunities for spiritual development within the College are overseen by a faculty leadership team that strives to give students the chance to grow in faith
- Gordon E. Inman College of Health Sciences & Nursing
- The Nurses Christian Fellowship, the Occupational Therapy Christian Fellowship, and Physical Therapy Christian Fellowship offer students the chance to meet regularly for worship, Bible study, and service opportunities. In addition, the School of Social Work hosts an International Justice Mission Chapter, part of the faith-based anti-human trafficking organization IJM.
- Discipline-specific mission trips bring together students from all of the allied health sciences to serve over spring break in countries such as Guatemala, China
and Haiti. - Study Abroad Maymester trips allow students to serve with Christian partners in Cambodia while earning academic credit for required classes.
- Faculty
publish in the leading Christian journals in their fields, with gives students a chance to see their own work reach a wider audience. - Classes such as Spirituality and Social Work help students see how seeking God’s guidance and healing can be part of a comprehensive approach to serving others.
- Students teach the pre-natal classes at the Hope Clinic, the largest crisis pregnancy center in the region.
- Students serve each week at Siloam Health, whose motto is “to share the love of Christ by serving those in need through health care.” It is located two miles from campus and provides healthcare in 80 languages.
- Faculty and students have an opportunity to travel each year to the Global Missions Health Conference, the largest such conference in the U.S.
- The College brings to campus each semester leaders in healthcare who are outstanding at what they do as an expression of their faith in Christ.
- Students can serve at the Belmont Ministry Center, providing consultations for neighbors in need at one of the clinics the college holds there regularly.
- College of Law
- The College of Law has awarded its Champions for Justice Award to luminaries such as Fred Grey, the lawyer for Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; Gary Haugen, the founder and president of International Justice Mission, which uses lawyers to fight human trafficking; and Bryan Stevenson, founder of Equal Justice initiative and The Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration, and The National Memorial for Peace and Justice for victims of racial terror lynchings.
- The Christian Legal Society gives all students a chance to meet for fellowship, Bible study, and conversations about the interplay of faith and the law. It is one of Belmont’s Graduate Christian Fellowships, which also includes the Christian Pharmacy Fellowship International, Physical Therapy Graduate Fellowship, and the Occupational Therapy Graduate Fellowship. They each host regular events for their members, as well as joint worship and fellowship nights.
- Each semester, the College of Law brings to the Baskin Center a speaker whose outstanding work is an expression of their faith in Christ. Recent guests have included the national leader for faith-based legal aid ministries, the Gospel Justice Initiative; the governmental affairs director for Prison Fellowship; and the leading immigration advocate for World Relief.
- College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences
- Each semester, the college brings to campus speakers who are outstanding at what they do as an expression of their faith in Christ. From poets to philosophers to advocates for justice, these authors and leaders embody ways that faith, learning
and service mutually strengthen each other. - The college affords students the opportunity to take classes such as Spirituality and Writing and First Year Seminars such as “Christianity and the Life of the Mind.”
- Faculty and students from a variety of disciplines take part in an annual Christian Scholars Conference.
- Faculty from the college lead Mission Trips, as well as missional Study Abroad trips, to the Dominican Republic, where students have a chance to embody Belmont’s commitment to being a Christian community of learning and service.
- College of Pharmacy
- The Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International(CPFI) offers opportunities for Bible study, fellowship
and service. It is part of the Belmont Graduate Christian Fellowships, which is comprised of the CPFI, Christian Legal Society, Physical Therapy Graduate Student Fellowship, and the Occupational Therapy Graduate Student Fellowship. - Each semester, the Faith and Healthcare Panel Series hosts a conversation about the integration of faith and healthcare practice.
- Pharmacy students and faculty help lead discipline-specific mission trips and study abroad experiences to Cambodia, China, Guatemala, Honduras, and Haiti over spring break and during Maymester. Students also designed and helped staff dispensaries in Guatemala and Haiti.
- In order to serve Nashville more effectively, the College has a faculty member whose office is at nearby Siloam Health, whose motto is “to share the love of Christ by serving those in need through health care.” Pharmacy students designed and help run the dispensary that serves clients who speak 80 different languages.

Recent guests include the directors of the plasma physics laboratories at Princeton and MIT, the author of the most widely used psychology textbook in the U.S., the chief scientist for the Hubble Space Telescope, and the president of the American Mathematical Association.
- We hosted the national conference of the American Scientific Affiliation, the oldest and largest organization of Christians in the natural sciences, and host a chapter of the ASA.
- Faculty lead a Discussion Seminar on Faith & Science, giving students a chance to read and discuss articles on various aspects of this ongoing conversation.
- Thanks to a grant from Scholarship & Christianity at Oxford and the Council of Christian Colleges & Universities, Belmont also hosts a Faith & Science Club for students with a focus on Christian approaches to artificial intelligence.
- The faith and science organization that Belmont has the most robust ties with is the
Biologos Foundation, whose speakers and resources enrich the conversation on campus. - College of Theology & Christian Ministry
- College of Music and Performing Arts
- Christmas at Belmont is seen on National Public Television nationwide each year. It involves 800 students who take part in this production celebrating, in the words of John’s Gospel: “In the beginning was the Word….and the Word became flesh and lived among us.”
- The Theater Dept. premiered an original work written by a Belmont theater professor that presented John’s Gospel in dramatic fashion.
- Dance students work regularly with Rejoice School of Ballet, whose annual recital is held in the Troutt Theater. In addition, they have a strong connection to the Epiphany Dance Company at Christ Church Cathedral.
- Salama Urban Ministries, which provides academic and artistic enrichment opportunities for Nashville students, regularly presents its annual musical theater production in the Troutt Theater.
- The School of Music brings to campus alumni such as Josh Turner and Melinda Doolittle, and guests like Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant, whose faith in Christ inspires them in their work.
- The Belmont Chorale has a partnership with Seoul for Souls; the Women’s Choir often performs Medieval Christian works from the earliest female composer Hildegard of Bingen; and other School of Music ensembles perform Christian pieces in a wide range of musical styles, from pop to jazz to bluegrass.

The tallest building in most towns was once the church steeple, but now it is a skyscraper. If Christian faith does not have an impact on business, then it is not having the impact it should have
Conversely, in the poorest areas of Nashville and other American cities, and in the poorest countries of the world, faith-based organizations are at the forefront of community development work. Belmont as a private Christian school is free to partner with faith-based organizations and church ministries, giving students the chance to connect with some of the most dynamic forces for economic progress in the U.S. and internationally.

Theater, dance and music are an integral part of Belmont’s Christian community of learning and service, which has the freedom to connect with this rich Christian artistic heritage in the classroom and the practice room, and to bring faith-informed works to life on campus and beyond.

The Leu Art Gallery hosts the Nagel Institute for the Study of World Christianity triennial travelling exhibitions, which feature works by Christian artists from Asia, Africa and North American who collaborate to address themes of justice and beauty. In addition to the gallery exhibition, we host artists from that exhibition on campus so they can interact with our students.
The Art Department created the 14 Stations of the Cross banners for use in Chapel during Lent, and the pottery communion chalices that we use for our Opening Communion Service each spring.
The Frederick Hart Studio Museum on campus features the largest collection of works by the greatest representational sculptor of his generation, best known for his Vietnam Veterans Memorial sculptures and his pieces at the National Cathedral. His conversion to Christianity inspired him to produce statues of St. Peter and St. Paul, as well as the Millennium Cross. Hart’s “Christ Rising” is now the centerpiece of the Bunch Library Atrium.
