The fellowships at Belmont University College of Pharmacy are two-year post-doctoral training programs focused in drug information, evidence-based practice, teaching, and research. Belmont works in conjunction with corporate healthcare partners to give fellows real-world experience in specific fields such as toxicology and information management. The fellowships provide opportunities to develop an understanding of academia, research, drug information delivery, and corporate pharmacy through rotations at Belmont University College of Pharmacy’s Christy Houston Foundation Drug Information Center and Aegis Sciences Corporation or HealthTrust. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be qualified to pursue careers in each respective area.

Belmont University College of Pharmacy, Christy Houston Foundation Drug Information Center
The 12-month academia and drug information rotation of the Clinical Pharmacist Fellowship in Drug Information allows the fellow to teach courses while balancing the daily operations of a drug information center. At Belmont University College of Pharmacy, the fellow gains experience as an adjunct professor of drug information courses, a preceptor of experiential students, and responds to drug information questions submitted by preceptors and health systems in Nashville. Fellows will conduct a longitudinal research project suitable for peer-reviewed publication and presentation at national meetings. The fellow will also participate in Belmont’s Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program and exit the rotation experience with a completed teaching portfolio.
Aegis Sciences Corporation, Clinical Pharmacy and Toxicology
The 12-month corporate rotation of the Clinical Pharmacist Fellowship in Drug Information provides the fellow with experience working as a member of a large, toxicology laboratory specializing in healthcare services. The fellow acts as a member of the Clinical Pharmacist team, providing clinical consulting and testing interpretation for a variety of healthcare fields, including behavior health, cardiology, and pain management. Fellows will conduct a longitudinal research project suitable for publication and presentation at national meetings and coordinate large scale projects for testing profile expansion. Additionally, the fellow will have the opportunity to educate students of all ages and non-healthcare corporate members during the course of this rotation.

Fellows have the opportunity to pursue longitudinal research projects suitable for publication and presentation at national meetings, as well as act as a preceptor for experiential education students. Additionally, the fellow will participate in Belmont’s Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program and exit the rotation experience with a completed teaching portfolio.
HealthTrust, Pharmacy Clinical Information Management
The 12-month corporate rotation of the Clinical Management Fellowship in Drug Information presents the fellow with the opportunity to gain experience at a group purchasing organization with over 1,600 member-hospitals and over 25,000 clinics. At HealthTrust, the fellow will be integrated into the clinical pharmacy team by engaging with the sourcing department and supporting a drug information service. The fellow will have the opportunity to complete a longitudinal research project and submit for peer-review and publication. Precepting students, conducting evidence reviews, drafting conversion documents, and learning how to navigate a complex healthcare environment are a few of the experiences gained upon completion of this fellowship.
