Degree Requirements

Students in the Undergraduate School of Business can earn a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree, a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, or a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. The type of degree earned depends upon the program of study selected. A business degree at Belmont University requires a minimum of 128 credit hours. Requirements under the 2020-2021 catalog can be found using the links below:

Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.)
The B.B.A. degree allows students to gain a solid foundation in all facets of business, thus students pursuing this degree type will complete the Business Tool and Core courses. Students will be introduced to accounting, economics, business law, management, business ethics, entrepreneurship, international business, and many more subjects. Combined with the BELL Core general education requirements or the Honors Program curriculum, our business students will have the best of a liberal arts and professional education. The B.B.A. degree does not require a minor.

General Education (BELL Core) Requirements: 50-53 credit hours

Bachelor of Science (B.S.)
The B.S. degree is more liberal arts in nature and allows students the flexibility to enroll in coursework that will customize their education for the type of work or graduate school program they will pursue after graduation. These students gain a strong foundation in their program of interest and with the Economics and Hospitality & Tourism Management majors, students will minor in an additional area of interest in either the Massey College or in another academic college. International Economics students will minor in a foreign language to complement their economics courses. Social Entrepreneurship students enjoy coursework within entrepreneurship, accounting, and business ethics while also completing an internship and thematic track.

General Education (BELL Core) Requirements: 53-57 credit hours

Bachelor of Art (B.A.)
Social Entrepreneurship students have the option of pursuing a B.A. degree instead of a B.S. degree, and while they still possess the same coursework knowledge and experiential learning opportunities, B.A. degree seeking students will incorporate two foreign language courses at the intermediate or advanced levels into their general education. This degree path is beneficial for students who think they may want to work abroad or believe they will use a foreign language in their work.

General Education (BELL Core) Requirements: 53 credit hours

Business Minors
Business minors in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Systems & Analytics, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Business and Marketing are available. These minors are not intended for B.B.A. degree seeking students. Click here to see the requirements for business minors under the 2020-2021 catalog.
