A freshman applicant has never attempted any university classes in any country since graduating from high school/secondary school.

- Submit Transcript Evaluation
- High Schools Outside of the U.S. - A formal credential evaluation of your high school transcript is required for any student who has completed their education outside of the United States. Evaluations must be course-by-course, contain a GPA (grade point average), official, and sent directly from the evaluation company to Belmont. Any evaluation from an NACES accrediated evaluation company will be accepted. For high school transcript evaluation, Belmont suggests using Josef Silny & Associates, SpanTran or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE).
- U.S. High Schools - Request that official transcripts be sent from the high school directly to the Office of Admissions. For a transcript to be official, it may not be marked "Issued to Student." Electronic copies are accepted from Parchment, Clearinghouse, Naviance or SCOIR (if your school participates).
- Submit SAT/ACT Scores
- Belmont's ACT code is 3946
- Belmont's SAT code is 1058
- Submit a Counselor Recommendation
- Demonstrate English Proficiency
- Minimum TOEFL score of 550 paper-based test or 80 internet-based test (Equivalent TOEFL myBest scores are accepted); or
- Minimum IELTS academic score of 6.5; or
- Minimum SAT Reading Score of 29; or
- Minimum ACT English sub score of 23; or
- 4 years of American high school without ESL coursework; or
- 6 hours of English Composition coursework with a grade of 'C' or higher at an American college/university.

Belmont University is test optional for applicants applying for 2021. Should you choose to submit official scores, request official score reports be sent directly to Belmont. (Belmont’s ACT code is 3946 and the SAT code is 1058). Belmont does not consider Writing test scores from either the SAT or ACT. Test scores will be accepted as official if submitted on an official high school transcript.
Provide the Counselor Recommendation to the appropriate person in your guidance office and have him or her send the completed recommendation directly to Belmont. If your school does not have a guidance counselor, a teacher may complete the form.
While Belmont is test optional for applicants applying for Fall 2021, International applicants whose native language is not English must satisfy one of these English language proficiency requirements before an admissions decision can be made:

- University-level Credits Completed Outside of the U.S. - All transfer applicants are required to submit transcript evaluations for all college/university coursework completed outside the U.S. Evaluations must be course-by-course, contain a GPA (grade point average), and from an NACES accredited evaluation company. Applicants who have earned less than 24 hours (approximately 1 year) of college credit are also required to submit course-by-course evaluations of their high school transcripts.
- University-level Credits Completed at a U.S. Institution - Please request an official copy of your transcript from every college or university you have previously attended. Applicants who have earned less than 24 hours (approximately 1 year) of college credit are also required to submit course-by-course evaluations of their high school transcripts (if a diploma was received from a foreign country) or a high school transcript from their U.S. high school.
- Demonstrate English Proficiency

Other Important Information for Freshmen & Transfer Applicants
- Scholarships
- Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for U.S. federal financial aid.
- Freshmen can be considered for Belmont’s extremely competitive merit scholarships. The freshman application for admission also serves as the application for scholarships. 2020 applicants had a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.6 and an ACT Composite score of 26, or SAT score of 1220, and were considered competitive for a general freshman academic scholarship.
- The application deadline for the top-named scholarships is December 1. These scholarships are the most competitive academic merit scholarships programs (including Archer Presidential and Faculty Scholar awards). They recognize approximately the top 2% of freshman applicants for admission, with an average high school grade point average of 4.66 and ACT Composite score of 34, or SAT score of 1500 for those who applied in 2020. Selection criteria include a review of academic and leadership accomplishments. Demonstrated financial need may also be considered.
- Financial Ability
- Students must pay the entire tuition amount at the beginning of the semester. See our Cost Estimator.
- Admitted international students who confirm their intent to attend Belmont must pay a non-refundable $3,000 deposit. This will be credited toward the student’s tuition bill the first semester.
- International students are also responsible for purchasing health insurance. The cost of a basic plan is approximately $1,416 per year ($118 per month)
- Student Visas, I-20’s & Immigration Paperwork
- If you are admitted to Belmont, please contact Shauna Walsh, Assistant Director of International Student and Scholars Services at Belmont, as quickly as possible. You must be admitted to Belmont and contact Ms. Walsh in order to get an I-20.
- Ms. Walsh will give you the Belmont University Sponsor's Statement. You must have the person responsible for financing your education complete the form and have it notarized. Then return this form to Ms. Walsh.
- Ms. Walsh will issue you your I-20 after Belmont receives your $3,000 non-refundable enrollment deposit. After receipt of the I-20, you must complete the Visa process as quickly as possible.
