For professionals in the fashion industry, Nashville, Tennessee, is one of the fastest-growing and most exciting markets to work in. Already known as a leader in the music and healthcare industries, Nashville is quickly emerging as a hub for technology and a home for aspiring entrepreneurs. Now, thanks to the support of the Nashville Fashion Alliance, the city is well on its way to becoming America’s next fashion capital. The O’More School of Design Fashion programs* offer students unrivaled access to Nashville’s growing fashion industry.

The Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising B.F.A. programs prepare students to compete successfully in the demanding fashion industry through the practical skills and experiential learning they have gained in our well-rounded program that intertwines design, business, and the latest technologies.

Courses in the BFA Fashion Design and Merchandising programs include textiles, fashion forecasting, digital design, portfolio development, entrepreneurship, marketing, and technical design. Design and Merchandising students also complete industry-specific classes.  Seniors present their fashion thesis projects to industry professionals, and potentially at the annual Fashion Show.

In addition, collaborations with Fortune 500 companies and non-profit institutions are at the core of the fashion program, ranging from Eastman Chemical Company to GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center

Upon completion of the B.F.A. program in Fashion Design or Fashion Merchandising, graduates will:

  • Demonstrate an advanced skill level of design that meets professional standards in the fashion industry and specialized markets
  • Attain knowledge of design and how it correlates to successfully producing a quality product to the end consumer
  • Proficiently communicate their ideas through a full range of written, verbal and technological skills
  • Execute decisions in the fashion industry using design thinking to analyze, conceptualize and solve problems
  • Acquire the business acumen necessary to compete in the global world of fashion
